recommend you configure the adapter at the AIX level on the PCI-based server
system in the defined state before setting the right parameters, as in step number
5.
6.8.1 Configuring an ISA Ethernet Adapter
Before the hardware parameters for the new ISA adapter can be selected and
tested using the 40P or 43P firmware, you will have to
tell
AIX the values of these
parameters.
The configuration for ISA Ethernet adapter requires you to specify the Interrupt
Level, the Bus I/O Address, the Bus Memory and the Connection or Media Type.
These parameters can assume the following values:
Interrupt Level = 5, 7, 9 or 11
Bus I/O Address = 0x240, 0x280, 0x300, and so on
Memory Address = 0xc000, 0xc4000, 0xc8000, and so on
Connection Type = bnc, dix, tp, and so on
1. Check if there are any ISA adapters that are already installed in your computer
by using the following command:
lsdev -Cc adapter -s isa
Defaults Parameters
If this is the first ISA adapter on the system, you may select the default
values:
Interrupt Level = 11
Bus I/O Address = 0x300
Bus Memory = 0X0c0000
Connection Type = bnc
and go directly to step number 9.
2. If any ISA adapter is installed, check for available Interrupt Level values by
entering the following command:
lsresource -l bus -a | grep bus_intr
This command generates a list of adapters using different Interrupt Levels that
looks similar to the following:
N fda bus_intr_lvl 6 (A)
N sa bus_intr_lvl 4 (A)
N sa1 bus_intr_lvl 3 (A)
N sioka bus_intr_lvl 1 (A)
N sioma bus_intr_lvl 12 (A)
N ampx bus_intr_lvl 11 (A)
N scsi bus_intr_lvl 13 (A)
N ent bus_intr_lvl 9 (A)
3. Select an Interrupt Level that is not currently in use.
4. If any ISA adapter is installed, check for available Bus I/O Address values by
entering the following command:
lsresource -l bus -a | grep bus_io
