Whenhandlingthesystemboard,bearthefollowinginmind.
•Thesystemboardhasanaccelerometer,whichcanbebrokenifseveralthousandsofG-forcesareapplied.
Note:Droppingasystemboardfromaheightofaslittleas6inchessothatitfallsatonahardbenchcansubject
theaccelerometertoasmuchas6,000G'sofshock.
•Becarefulnottodropthesystemboardonabenchtopthathasahardsurface,suchasmetal,wood,orcomposite.
•Ifasystemboardisdropped,youmusttestit,usingPC-DoctorforDOS,tomakesurethattheHDDActive
ProtectionSystem™stillfunctions.
Note:IfthetestshowsthattheHDDActiveProtectionSystemisnotfunctioning,besuretodocumentthedrop
inanyrejectreport,andreplacethesystemboard.
•Avoidroughhandlingofanykind.
•Ateverypointintheprocess,besurenottodroporstackthesystemboard.
•Ifyouputasystemboarddown,besuretoputitonlyonapaddedsurfacesuchasanESDmatoracorrugated
conductivesurface.
Afterreplacingthesystemboard,runPC-DoctorforDOStomakesurethattheHDDActiveProtectionSystem
stillfunctions.Theprocedureisasfollows:
1.Placethecomputeronahorizontalsurface.
2.RunDiagnostics➙ThinkPadDevices➙HDDActiveProtectionTest.
Attention:Donotapplyphysicalshocktothecomputerwhilethetestisrunning.
